These oval shaped gems are named after my mother, Irene, me, Elaine Irene, my daughter, Zoe Irene, and my niece Irene, who passed away. Though Baby Irene will never grow up nor have babies of her own, this jewelry speaks to the matriarchal lineage that is passed down from generation to generation through the female ovum. The miracle is that these tiny eggs are present in the ovaries of female babies at birth. The egg supply is never augmented, only decreased with each ovulation cycle.
